This area is consist of many beautiful waterfalls and eye catching hills and mountains. The natural environment with a high bio diversity has added an aesthetic value to this area.  The highest rainfall of Sri Lanka is reported in this area. The major livelihood is Tea, Rubber and farming related to minor export crops. The amount of contribution of the industrial and services is very low apart from the business agriculture.
